The Double-Tailed Land Turtle, a Ground-type beast, inherited the Deep-Fur Turtle's aversion to water. If only it had a Water-type beast by its side, the Double-Tailed Land Turtle would likely hide in its shell throughout this match.
"One is a defense powerhouse, the Double-Tailed Land Turtle; the other is the fierce Fire Tooth Dog. Who will win this battle?"
The audience listened eagerly to the commentator's passionate introduction, their eyes glued to the arena.
Half a minute passed.
"What’s up with these two?"
"Are they going to fight or not?"
"Go, Qiao Sang!"
"Didn’t the referee just blow the whistle to signal the start?"
"If they’re not going to fight, just get off the stage and let us see Gao Xulu and Sha Duo’s exhibition match."
A voice, out of place with the rest, shouted, "Go, Fire Tooth Dog!"
"Qiao Sang! Go!" Bai Yunmiao stood up, excitedly cheering. She had not forgotten; it was against Chen Qian that she had once lost!
On the field, Chen Qian couldn't hold back any longer and gave her command.
The left front paw of the Double-Tailed Land Turtle slammed down, and a crack rapidly spread from a meter in front of it. Soon, fissures branched out, creating dozens of cracks that extended towards the Fire Tooth Dog.
At that moment, the Fire Tooth Dog's figure flickered and split into two.
"Facing the Double-Tailed Land Turtle's Earth Split, the Fire Tooth Dog used its clone. What is this?" The middle-aged commentator was puzzled.
He had been in this line of work for over a decade, commentating nearly twenty matches each year, including many large-scale competitions. It was rare for him to be completely lost during a match.
Chen Qian was equally confused.
She had a strategy in mind; once the Fire Tooth Dog attacked, she would hide the Double-Tailed Land Turtle in its shell. With the Fire Tooth Dog’s attack power, it should be unable to break through the Double-Tailed Land Turtle's defense. After the Fire Tooth Dog was exhausted, she would then counterattack.
But the opponent wasn’t following her script!
Watching the Fire Tooth Dog's response to the ground fissures wasn’t what she had anticipated...
She fixed her gaze on the opposite side, wanting to see how the opponent would react.
"Now's the time," Qiao Sang said, breaking her silence since taking the stage.
As soon as her words fell, the left Fire Tooth Dog jumped onto the back of the right one and stomped down hard. The right Fire Tooth Dog instantly vanished, swallowed by the newly formed collapsed ground.
Using this boost, the left Fire Tooth Dog leaped into the air.
"The Fire Tooth Dog used its clone to evade the ground fissure! But what happens next..." The commentator hesitated.
The airborne Fire Tooth Dog landed on some stones that hadn't fully collapsed yet and rushed towards the Double-Tailed Land Turtle.
"This agility is impressive," a guest commented.
"Why didn't it attack when the ground was still intact? What’s the difference between now and earlier?" another guest questioned.
"There is a difference. The Double-Tailed Land Turtle can’t use any skills for about ten seconds after using Earth Split," Song Yuan explained slowly, observing the scene.
"Song Yuan, I didn’t know you could talk!" another guest exclaimed.
Song Yuan just remained silent.
"Here comes the Blazing Charge!" another guest suddenly shouted.
On the field, the Fire Tooth Dog took off faster and faster, using the scattered stones for momentum. A blazing flame erupted from within the Fire Tooth Dog, wrapping it completely in fire.
Blazing Charge. It was a powerful intermediate skill that combined both special and physical attacks, with a chance of burning the opponent.
"Quick, hide in the shell!"
Chen Qian swiftly called out her order.
She knew the Double-Tailed Land Turtle wouldn’t be able to counterattack for those ten seconds after using Earth Split, but that didn’t matter. As long as the Turtle’s defense was strong enough, staying still while being attacked wouldn’t be disastrous.
If the opponent was relying on those ten seconds, they would only be disappointed. The flame enveloping the Fire Tooth Dog was small and of an orange-yellow hue, clearly showing that it was still at a novice level. The Double-Tailed Land Turtle obeyed, pulling in its limbs and head into its shell.
Chen Qian relaxed, already thinking about the skill she wanted to unleash ten seconds later.
“Bang!”
Chen Qian stared dumbfounded at the scene before her.
The Fire Tooth Dog didn’t charge at the Double-Tailed Land Turtle; instead, it crashed into the ground right in front of it!
The ground cracked rapidly under the impact of the Blazing Charge, which had already been weakened by the earlier fissures.
The force caused the ground under the Double-Tailed Land Turtle to collapse.
Balancing precariously, the Turtle wobbled and leaned against a stone, exposing its white belly.
Nice! Qiao Sang couldn't help but think.
The Double-Tailed Land Turtle's defense was strong, but not all parts offered the same level of protection. Its belly was a weak spot.
As long as she attacked this spot, the Fire Tooth Dog could break through the Turtle's defense and inflict some damage. Everything was going according to her plan.
Now, she just needed to attack the Turtle's belly with fervor.
Qiao Sang's eyes sparkled with anticipation.
But the Fire Tooth Dog paused, looking at the position of the Turtle leaning against the stone. Its Beastmaster had instructed it to flip the Turtle and attack its belly. However, the Turtle was stuck against the rock; although its belly was exposed, it hadn’t completely flipped over.
The Fire Tooth Dog didn’t hesitate for long. A spark shot out, aiming for the Double-Tailed Land Turtle… but hit the stone it was leaning against instead.
Qiao Sang’s thoughts froze for a moment.
The Fire Tooth Dog watched as the Double-Tailed Land Turtle’s shell faced downwards, revealing its belly. This was just what its Beastmaster had described.
“Get up!” Chen Qian shouted urgently.
Now she finally understood what the opponent was trying to do!
Upon hearing the command, the Double-Tailed Land Turtle stretched its head and limbs out of its shell and tried to flip over.
With all its might, it attempted to roll.
Not even a budge.
Again, it tried… still stuck...
The Double-Tailed Land Turtle was in despair. Its shell was far too heavy!
The Fire Tooth Dog leapt onto the Turtle’s belly, unleashing a flurry of sparks while creating a fiery vortex, continuously targeting the Turtle's vulnerable spot.
“Lu Pa!!!”
The Double-Tailed Land Turtle let out a terrible cry.
“Get up!” Chen Qian shouted, sweating nervously.
“Lu Pa!!!”
It couldn’t get up!
The Double-Tailed Land Turtle was indeed known for its incredible defense. Even with the Fire Tooth Dog attacking its weak belly, it took nearly two minutes for it to finally faint.
Fortunately, the Fire Tooth Dog had been trained to release its skills continuously. Two minutes of skill usage didn’t tire it out much.
“The winner is contestant Qiao Sang!”
The Fire Tooth Dog joyfully ran towards its Beastmaster, but it restrained itself, trying not to show its excitement in front of the crowd.
Qiao Sang caught the charging Fire Tooth Dog, her expression filled with complexity.
This match had been largely what she anticipated but still bore some differences.
For example, if she had known the Double-Tailed Land Turtle wouldn’t be able to flip and its head and limbs would be exposed, why had she chosen to attack its belly?
Wouldn’t it have been better to go for its head directly?!
Her pet truly just followed her orders too much...
Wishing everyone peace and health during the Dragon Boat Festival.
