Soon, the Flame Tooth Dog vanished under the light of the star array.
In Qiao Sang's Mind Domain, a blank page of the Beastmaster Codex suddenly lit up, and a vivid image of a Flame Tooth Dog appeared upon it.
At the same time, in the blank area of the Codex.
[Name: Flame Tooth Dog]
[Attribute: Fire]
[Level: Beginner (63/1000)+]
[Skills: Bite (Entry 73/100)+, Body Slam (Proficient 133/500)+, Flame Fang (Entry 1/100)+]
[Points: 0]
Simple and easy-to-understand lines of text clearly appeared before Qiao Sang.
Qiao Sang was in a daze.
Does the Beastmaster Codex introduce these things?
She thought not.
She remembered that the Codex's function was only for contract and a space for her beast, with nothing like this system-related stuff at all.
But Qiao Sang couldn't be certain about her own memory, as the original owner of her body was a poor student, and there were too many knowledge gaps.
Though… this might actually be her lucky break!
Everything would have to wait until she left this place to verify.
Suppressing her excitement, Qiao Sang formed a summoning seal.
In the next moment, a white star array appeared on the ground, with starlight gathering around it, and an excited Flame Tooth Dog appeared.
“Yah!”
The Flame Tooth Dog barked at Qiao Sang.
Due to the contract, Qiao Sang easily understood what her beast meant.
It wanted to try entering the Beastmaster Codex again.
Qiao Sang smiled fondly and formed the seal to return the Flame Tooth Dog.
As soon as it went in, the Flame Tooth Dog started barking, wanting to come out again.
Qiao Sang obliged. The moment the Flame Tooth Dog came out, it happily wagged its red tail.
“Yah!”
Qiao Sang smiled and returned it again.
In the next moment, she let it out again.
The Flame Tooth Dog blinked its black eyes.
“Yah!”
Qiao Sang's smile faltered for a moment, then she returned it to the Beastmaster Codex.
When the Flame Tooth Dog came out again, it looked at Qiao Sang with eager eyes.
“Yah!”
It wanted to play again!
Qiao Sang was speechless.
When Ye Xiangting returned, she found her daughter with a blank expression, forming seals as she put the Flame Tooth Dog away and let it out repeatedly.
Ye Xiangting asked curiously, “Sang Sang, what are you doing?”
Qiao Sang replied with no expression, “I’m playing.”
Qiao Sang did not go home directly after leaving the Hanggang Beast Base but instead headed to the Hanggang Beastmaster Center.
According to the alliance regulations, all Beastmasters must register their contracted beasts at the Beastmaster Center within seven working days.
In this era, simply contracting a beast does not allow one to comfortably take it home. First, the beast must be registered; otherwise, it becomes a black-market beast.
Human-populated cities prohibit wild extraordinary creatures from entering. If caught without registration, they would be treated as wild extraordinary creatures and taken away by the inspection department.
Encounters of wild extraordinary creatures attacking humans are not uncommon; in fact, news outlets often report incidents of humans being attacked by such beings.
To protect human safety, especially for ordinary people whose Mind Domains have not awakened, the alliance has strict rules against the presence of wild extraordinary beasts in cities. However, various types of extraordinary creatures possess mysterious powers. While animal-type extraordinary creatures are relatively easy to spot, creatures like fairies or ghosts can be hard to notice if they choose to hide.
To address these issues, the alliance established an inspection department.
From the Hanggang Beast Base to her home, a slight turn took her to the Hanggang Beastmaster Center, which was somewhat on her way.
Just around that turn, her mother rode off on her Faith Beast, saying she had errands to run and leaving behind a Plump Dove for Qiao Sang to use.
Qiao Sang arrived at the Hanggang Beastmaster Center at 11:32 AM, with only 28 minutes left until the center closed.
This registration for information didn't require only one window like the Mind Domain testing; there were as many as 16 windows available for registration.
Qiao Sang took a number and found a seat to sit down.
The Plump Dove quietly stood by her side, while the Flame Tooth Dog she held in her arms looked around curiously.
“06556, please proceed to window 12.”
“06556, please proceed to window 12.”
Qiao Sang looked at the number in her hand—06557. Then she glanced at the time, which read 11:52.
It seemed it wasn’t her turn yet in the morning.
“06557, please proceed to window 12.”
It seemed the previous number hadn't gone through and was calling for Qiao Sang’s number instead.
Qiao Sang immediately stood up, holding the Flame Tooth Dog tightly; it appeared luck was on her side today.
When she reached window 12, a young man with a buzz cut greeted her.
“Hello, how can I assist you?”
Qiao Sang pulled out her information card and handed it over. “I’m here to register my beast.”
The young man took the information card and placed it on the scanner. After looking at it for a moment, he said: “Hello, it shows here that you are not yet a Beastmaster, so you cannot register your beast.”
Qiao Sang was stunned for a moment. “Then can I register as a Beastmaster first?”
The young man replied, “Please provide your Mind Domain certificate.”
Since this was Qiao Sang's first time registering as a Beastmaster, she didn’t know she needed a Mind Domain certificate as well.
“I didn’t bring it,” she replied helplessly.
Then she raised the Flame Tooth Dog in her arms. “Can’t this prove I’m a Beastmaster?”
The young man glanced at the time on the computer, which read 11:58. He replied, “No, it cannot.”
“Why not?” Qiao Sang questioned in confusion.
“Are you done? If you don’t have everything ready, hurry up and make way,” a woman’s impatient voice came from behind.
Qiao Sang turned and saw a girl in a uniform from Beast Master High School standing behind her.
The girl glanced at Qiao Sang with her long, slanted eyes that made it uncomfortable to be looked at from above.
Seeing Qiao Sang silent, she directly reached past her and handed her number slip forward. “I’m 06556, can you process mine first? I need to change some information about my beast.”
Qiao Sang frowned, preparing to yield her place. Though the girl’s attitude was unpleasant, she indeed lacked complete information.
The young man refused the girl’s request. “We don’t allow jumping the line here.”
Then he handed the information card back to Qiao Sang. “You need to present proof for a Beastmaster’s registration with a photo.”
Time was exactly 12:00. The young man turned the sign at his window and smiled. “We’re closing now; you can come back in the afternoon.” With that, he left his post.
Neither of them managed to register; Qiao Sang was indifferent since this was just something she did on the way.
However, the girl in her high school uniform looked displeased. “It’s all your fault. If it weren’t for you, I would have completed my business.”
Qiao Sang stood up to leave.
A hand stopped her. “Hey, didn’t you hear me talking to you?”
Qiao Sang looked confused, glancing around. “Are you talking to me?”
“Is there anyone else here?” The girl’s slanted eyes widened in annoyance.
At that moment, a couple of bystanders silently walked past.
