“What are you all doing here?”
“Huh?”
The death god was momentarily startled, as if he hadn’t expected that question. But soon he regained composure and began to answer calmly.
“We are waiting for the beginning.”
“The beginning?”
“Yes!”
The death god exclaimed with joy and delight.
“The beginning of the war to reclaim the world that was originally ours, and to dye it back into our possession!”
War, huh.
It wasn’t hard to figure out what he meant. It was the upcoming war between the transcendent beings and the high gods. After a moment of thought, Taesan spread his will again.
“I have something to ask.”
“Anything you wish, great one.”
The death god bowed low, adopting a stance of total submission. Taesan silently observed him. The death god possessed full intelligence.
Communicating through will was smooth, like talking to an ordinary person.
‘He’s more normal than I thought.’
The monsters Taesan had met so far were all unreasonable creatures. So he had expected this place to be no different. It was an unexpected surprise.
Of course, all the monsters he had faced before were tools used to trample the world, so there was no need for full intelligence. That made things easier for Taesan. He asked the death god: “Whom do you serve?”
“I am a child born from the fragment of the great, solitary World Shatterer.”
