The huge hole vanished as if it had never appeared, and the old bookstore’s collapse and shaking abruptly stopped.
Only the “rotten knowledge” that continuously flowed down from the bookshelves kept accumulating, turning quickly into a kind of sludge upon touching the floor, emitting a sickening stench of decay.
Yu Sheng finally turned and left this increasingly strange old bookstore, which by now had lost all value for exploration.
Almost the moment he dashed out the door, a loud “bang” sounded behind him—the shop door slammed shut, and the once brightly lit entrance instantly darkened to match the dimness of the surrounding shops.
Little Red Riding Hood and the King stood at the door, one humanoid and one cat, both alertly staring deep into the alley.
The “Priest” in their group held a short staff that radiated a gentle, warm light, illuminating a small area around them.
“That hole disappeared,” Yu Sheng quickly reported. “Before it vanished, I saw that outside there was fog everywhere, and like spiderweb threads extending from afar.”
“Could you stop being so reckless all the time?” Little Red Riding Hood glanced back at Yu Sheng helplessly. “If you’re not afraid of dying, at least pace yourself for us ordinary folks… Wait, spiderweb threads? What kind of spiderweb threads?”
