As they stepped through a new doorway, the surroundings changed in an instant.
The pleasant, cool breeze of a valley transformed into the stifling humidity of a tropical rainforest, accompanied by the distant calls of unknown creatures and the rustling sounds of insects scurrying over dry leaves.
Out of caution, Yu Sheng did not close the door behind them.
Instead, he kept it ajar while leading Ai Lin through the passage, ready to return to the valley at any moment.
“What about now?” he asked, glancing at the small puppet resting on his arm. “Can you still feel what’s happening in the other body? Has the connection been severed?”
“... I’m surprised; it’s still connected!” the little puppet exclaimed with astonishment. “I felt a bit dazed when we passed through the door, but it wasn’t a complete disconnection. It felt more like a shift in perception, and now everything is back to normal. The connection between the two bodies hasn’t weakened at all.”
With that, she looked around, curiosity dancing in her eyes. “Hey, Yu Sheng, how far apart do you think my two bodies are now?”
