The movie began with a short sequence—mostly Tom Cruise looking cool, showing off how he picks up girls.
Then Michelle Pfeiffer appeared.
She was Hollywood’s first-generation blonde sweetheart, no need for more words.
The two of them together were a pleasure to look at, and the opening had a very light, brisk rhythm.
Then the illness was revealed.
“She was in a car accident once and developed a kind of short-term memory loss. When the sun rises the next day, she forgets everything that happened the day before.”
“How long has she been like this?”
“One hundred days!”
The heroine’s father spread his hands helplessly and said, “I’ve had a hundred 60th birthdays.”
The day the heroine had the accident happened to be her father’s birthday, so her memory was forever stuck on that day.
